Wegman World

We’d always known photographer William Wegman sold his books and notecards, depicting his weimaraner dogs in odd costumes and poses, in bookstores everywhere, but we hadn’t realized he had a store as part of his website: www.wegmanworld.com.

If you haven’t come across a Wegman photograph before, you’re missing a slinky dog dressed up like, say, Cinderella or Little Red Riding Hood. Wegman has decked out his canines as choirboys, caterpillars, elephants and mathematicians. One of the neatest things about his store is that you can find a complete line of his notecards, including pictures of a dog on skiis and one in a fur coat. You’ll also find a pair of kissing dogs and a dog in a bikini.

For the children, look for T-shirts and a DVD of Fay’s 12 Days of Christmas, 30 minutes long and starring Wegman’ well-known dog, Fay Ray. Delivery of orders is promised in 15 business days. You can order online or by calling toll-free 1-877-Wegman-1.

William Wegman has exhibited in museums and galleries internationally and is known not only for his photographs but also for his videos, drawings and paintings. His dogs, however, always share center stage. You can see them on parade on his website.
