Mass MoCA, always surprising ...

Imagine taking 25 abandoned factory buildings from the 19th century, which one housed the Sprague Electric Company, and combine this with 13 acres. Then turn it all into the largest contemporary arts center in the United States, or so they claim. It boggles the mind. People with the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art did just that.
You can visit the center in the northern Berkshire town of North Adams, just below Vermont. One gallery is as big as a football field. The place focuses on large-scale and complex installations. Love them or hate them, you’re going to be impressed. Take the tour. It’s well worth your time: informative, helpful and often necessary for getting a grip on what you’re seeing.Check out as well the performances and dance parties. You’ll find a café on site, along with a full-service restaurant. Across the street is The Porches Inn, six renovated Victorian-era row houses that once you’re inside may recall your hip grandmother.
