Book Club
Reading to eat...

Our book club likes to eat. In fact, we often forget to discuss the book after the wine and the desserts. Taking things to another level, somehow we decided to read books that could end with a feast. Our latest selection was Bill Buford’s book Heat, which features the famous chef Mario Batali, he with the red hair, long shorts, white apron and orange clogs. The book traces New Yorker writer Buford’s adventures cooking in Batali’s restaurant and then his journeys to Italy to learn pasta-making and the art of being a butcher. It’s a great book and the resulting dinner was even better!
From Batali’s recipes, we whipped up the following:
Chicken Liver Crostini
Winter Caprese Salad
Prosecco Wine
Tortelloni with Sage Butter
Pino Grigio Wine
Stuffed Chicken Legs
Sweet and Sour Pumpkin
Wilted Greens
Chianti Wine
Torta della Nonna
Coffee/Tea
Yum-m-m-m! We highly recommend such decadence to everyone.
