Winning the lottery ...
If you’re going to win the lottery, especially a jackpot of $275 million, this is the way to handle it: Tonya Harris and her husband, Robert, won Georgia’s Mega Millions jackpot a month ago. Robert was an ironworker, and the couple, according to news reports, had been living paycheck to paycheck. Robert immediately quit his job. The couple also noted they were going out to replace their trailer home with a new home and buy a new four-wheel-drive truck.
But the best part was Tonya’s reaction. She said she would use part of her winnings to send her grandchildren to college and help other relatives. Appearing before the media, she wore warm-up pants and flip-flops, informing reporters: “We’re not gonna change. I’m too country.”
