New crayon colors ...
You may not have heard but the people at Crayola
have added eight new colors to their box of 64 crayons. Actually,
they’ve renamed the crayons with colors that aren’t even colors. No,
they’re a way to feel: Awesome (read: orange), Happy Ever After (read:
turquoise), Best Friends (read: purple).
Look also for
Bear Hug, Super Happy and Famous. We don’t know what this says about
our current state of affairs, but the company polled 20,000 kids online
to come up with the new names. All we want to know is if the crayons
smell the same, that wonderful waxy aroma from our childhood.
It’s
the 50th anniversary of the big box of crayons, all of them stacked so
neatly, with the built-in sharpener. We remember what it was like to
pop open the box and marvel at all those colors! It was in 1958 on the Captain Kangaroo show that Crayola rolled out its ever-popular product. Here’s wishing them another 50 years!
